“5 Star Day” : A Must See!

Posted: 03 Nov 2011 10:56 AM PDT

When I heard about American writer/director Danny Buday‘s feature film “5 Star Day” at Breaking Glass Pictures, saw the trailer, and read the synopsis, I was immediately excited – because I am really into Astrology, and most things superstitious.
In a day and age where it appears that creativity is in short supply, it is always refreshing to be introduced to a film that seems to have the ability to pull you in, take you for an exciting ride, and deliver entertainment from start to finish. The words which captivated me, catching my interest?

Four People. One Horoscope. Infinite Possibilities. Jake Gibson’s (Cam Gigandet) horoscope forecasts a perfect Five Star Day the morning of his birthday. Little does he realize that what’s foretold to be a flawless day, unfolds to be far less than stellar when Jake’s world is turned upside down as all that could go wrong…does. Determined that Astrology has no legitimacy, Jake embarks on a journey to test the theory of Astrology by finding the three people born the same time and place as himself – Sarah Reynolds (Jena Malone), Yvette Montgomery (Brooklyn Sudano) and Wesley Henderson (Max Hartman). The journey quickly uproots Jake from the small college town of Berkeley, California to downtown Chicago where he sets out to find and interview Sarah, Yvette and Wesley to see if their birthdays proved to be as disappointing as his own. Jake’s pursuit in finding his three Astrological matches (or Zodiac twins) will not only test his convictions, but validate how life’s unexpected twists of fate can deliver much more than the anticipated. The unforeseen takes Jake from the Windy City, to the boardwalk of New Jersey’s Atlantic City, to the bustling streets of New York. What Jake learns along the way is an important lesson about life, love, fate and destiny that will unexpectedly change his life forever.

Have a look at the trailer too:

The Hollywood Reporter proclaims: “5 Star Day has some imaginative touches and boasts some fine elements, including Jason Oldak's handsome lensing and a well-chosen indie rock score.”

I know what you’re thinking “Willow, where can I see this movie?” Hold your horses I’m getting there!

Show Danny Buday, Cam Gigandet and Breaking Glass Pictures some love! Purchase this movie, and kick back in your pajamas – (not having to worry about the crowds, over-priced popcorn and $4.00 bottles of water) to be swept away into a vortex of someone’s artistic vision – but always remember “Make your own destiny.”

Halloween Families: Neil Patrick Harris Edition

Halloween has come and gone and I have to admit when my friend, Amanda, showed me this picture of Neil Patrick Harris and his family I knew that this had to be the cutest family picture ever. Neil’s partner,  David Burtka, and twins Harper and Gideon, are all so cute. I wonder if they would adopt me?

Michelle Williams Covers Elle UK

Posted: 02 Nov 2011 02:55 PM PDT

Michelle Williams is pretty in pink polka dots for the December 2011 issue of Elle UK.  Here are the highlights from the interview in the magazine:

On taking the role of Marilyn Monroe: "I was so apprehensive. It was daunting living up to people's expectations as well as my own expectations."

On parallels with Marilyn's life and her own: "There were so many connections and parallels for me in making this film. I was 30 when making the movie, the same age Marilyn was when she filmed The Prince and the Showgirl, the picture our film is based around. We filmed in the same studio at Pinewood where that movie was made. I had the same dressing room Marilyn had used and we also shot at the same house, Parkside, where she had stayed during filming."

On wanting to know the real Marilyn: "I had always been more interested in the private Marilyn, and the unguarded Marilyn. Even as a young girl, my primary concern wasn't with this larger than life personality smiling back from the wall but with what was going on underneath."

Scarlett Johansson Covers Vanity Fair

Scarlett Johansson looks breath-taking on the December 2011 issue of Vanity Fair. (I know we are already at the end of the year, the time sure flew by.) In this issue she talks about her nude photos and ex-husband, Ryan Reynolds. Here are the highlights:

On her nude photos: "I know my best angles. They were sent to my husband. There's nothing wrong with that. It's not like I was shooting a porno. Although there's nothing wrong with that either."

On her friendship – and shared hypochondria – with Woody Allen: "He shakes a lot of hands. I'll squirt some [Purell] in my hand and then squirt in his. The only reason why Woody and I are still friends is because I've diagnosed all kinds of his skin tags, lesions, ailments. I've prescribed things for Woody that he's then asked his doctor to prescribe for him."

On her divorce from Ryan Reynolds: "I didn't really know what to do with myself. It was such a strange time. There was nothing that was interesting to me. I had a very public separation. It was difficult. I felt very uncomfortable."
