Oscar winner Natalie Portman has issued a statement in which she says- "I am deeply shocked and disgusted by the video" Portman, 29, said in a statement from Los Angeles. "In light of this video, and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr. Galliano in any way." She adds, "I hope at the very least, these terrible comments remind us to reflect and act upon combating these still-existing prejudices that are the opposite of all that is beautiful." Portman's words come after Christian Dior suspended Dior chief designer John Galliano after allegations and a videotape have surfaced accusing him of making vile anti-Semitic comments.
Christian Dior released a statement Tuesday, announcing their decision to officially part ways with Galliano: "In light of the deeply offensive statements and conduct by John Galliano in a video made public [Monday], Christian Dior has commenced termination procedures against him," read the announcement. | ||||
Christina Aguilera Released From Jail Posted: 01 Mar 2011 10:35 AM PST Singer Christina Aguilera has been released from jail after being arrested for public intoxication early Tuesday. Aguilera and her boyfriend were pulled over Tuesday morning when police officers noticed their car swerving. Aguilera's boyfriend, Matthew Rutler, was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence. Police have said they took Aguilera into custody "for her own safety." Steve Whitmore, the chief public information officer for the Los Angeles Sheriff's department, spoke at a press conference in front of the West Hollywood station where Aguilera and her boyfriend Matthew Rutler were arrested. "It was kind of a unique situation with this law, as she was not capable of taking care of herself. She was incapacitated. She was co-operative and she was not belligerent in any way whatsoever. She was just intoxicated." He added: "What we do in the situation is that we do indeed arrest the individual on misdemeanor public intoxication. But we have no desire to prosecute. None whatsoever, it is just for public welfare, public safety issues." |
