Amy Winehouse was last seen in public on Wednesday July 20, when she joined her goddaughter, singer Dionne Bromfield, at a London concert.

Winehouse was dressed casually as she got on stage and urged encouraged the crowd to sing along to Bromfield's hit "Mamma Said."

The Grammy Award singer was reported to be very close to her father, Mitch Winehouse, who recently had said of his daughter-

"She's a great kid and she's going through some rough stuff at the moment. But the last few weeks she's been absolutely fantastic."

Grammy award winning singer Amy Winehouse was found dead at her London apartment on Saturday, according to People.com.

"We are deeply saddened at the sudden loss of such a gifted musician, artist and performer," a statement from her U.S. record label reads. "Our prayers go out to Amy's family, friends and fans at this difficult time."

Winehouse's accomplishments included nearly sweeping the Grammy Awards in 2008 with her album Back to Black, which scored five trophies including record of the year, song of the year and best new artist. Unable to attend the Grammys due to legal troubles, Winehouse performed via satellite from London during the ceremony.

The singer had dealt with addiction issues for many years, with her most recent stay in rehab being in May 2011. Winehouse had cancelled her planned June tour of Europefollowing a disastrous appearance in Belgrade, Serbia.

No cause of death has been released at this time.
