We are balls deep in the middle of festival season as Venice and Deauville happened concurrently this weekend, to be eclipsed by TIFF which begins on Thursday and NY Fashion Week on Friday. |

She messaged me about not being able to find Laurentian colour pencils which are, we both agreed, FAR superior to Crayola. I tried to stay away from retailers this weekend knowing it would be back to school crazy but as I’m leaving for Toronto tomorrow and TIFF for 10 days, I needed some supplies too. |

And what a cast. Several of them were at the festival for the photo call and the gala including Colin Firth, always dashing, with wife Livia, and Benedict Cumberbatch whose fans have been more and more vociferous lately about his inclusion on the site. |

The Descendants however was very, VERY well received in Telluride this weekend. Most agree, at this early stage, that George Clooney will earn another Best Actor nomination for this performance, on top of whatever he may get for Ides. |

They’re in Australia shooting Gatsby. Leonardo DiCaprio doesn’t seem to have any interest joining his colleagues on these occasions. |

G was slouchy and tired looking in orange Prada at the photo call, though I love the shoes that were paired with the outfit, and she chose Prada again for the gala, a blush bow gown that’s almost like the 15 years later sequel to her infamous Oscar pink Ralph Lauren, remember? Love her (me) or hate her (you), here’s what you can’t argue about Gwyneth Paltrow: she makes expensive things look expensive. |

I’m not a huge Star Wars nerd, but I’m enough of a Star Wars nerd to be excited about this, especially since the Field Museum hosted a charity screening of Empire, which afterward included a cocktail reception honoring Lucas. |
