By now, if you haven’t heard the news about Jackson Rathbone being an expectant daddy, you must be out of touch with modern technology. It’s all over the web, my inbox has been bombarded, and I’ve been fielding texts on the subject all day.

I’m sure each and every one of you have your own opinion on the situation, but at the end of the day, they aren’t the first couple to conceive (regardless of the stigma said to be surrounding the pregnancy), and they surely won’t be the last.

Quite frankly, as heartfelt as your intentions may be, if you’re passing judgment, it isn’t your place. Remember, unless you can live in a glass house unscathed, do not cast the first stone.

Everyone should realize that babies may be a surprise and life altering blessing, but they are never a horrific, life ruining accident.

Truthfully, what ultimately matters the most is that they always put their child’s welfare first.
I know a lot of you are hoping this experience has taught or is teaching them a “lesson”. Honestly in the coming days, they will truly learn what selflessness and sacrifice are all about, because their lives are no longer their own. Those things right there are the most valuable lessons that life will ever bestow upon anyone blessed enough to become a parent.

So is he going to be a daddy? It looks that way. You don’t have to love that, or even like it – the good news is, that it isn’t your life to fret about. So, smile, acknowledge it, and do what you’d do for any of your friends who are expecting – nod, congratulate them if you wish, then move on to something else that actually impacts your own life.

As I’ve spent at least the last 4 years publicly stating – just because they’re in the public eye, doesn’t mean they don’t deserve a private life. Let’s try to respect that on some level.

As for you, Jackson, always remember – If you do not create your destiny, you will have your fate inflicted upon you, but even more importantly, that it is in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped.
